The NYC SST 10-Hour Training is part of the Site Safety Training (SST) program mandated by Local Law 196 of 2017. It is designed for construction and demolition workers who must complete 40 hours of Site Safety Training to legally work on major construction sites in New York City.

Why NYC SST 10 Hour Training Matters?

Construction sites can be dangerous, and every worker must be prepared to face these dangers. The NYC SST 10-Hour Training helps reduce the risk of accidents by covering necessary safety topics, particularly in fall prevention and maintaining a drug- and alcohol-free workplace. Falls remain one of the top causes of construction-related fatalities, and substance abuse can severely impact job performance and safety. This training teaches workers how to manage potential hazards and create a safer work environment.

Failing to complete the required training can lead to penalties for both workers and employers. Without an SST card, workers are not permitted to enter on NYC construction job sites.

Who Should Take the NYC SST 10 Hour Training?

The NYC SST 10 Hour Training is for individuals who have already completed their OSHA 30-Hour Construction training and have a valid OSHA 30-Hour card that is not older than 5 years. They need to complete their 40 hours of Site Safety Training under NYC Local Law 196 to work on construction sites.
