Anyone planning to work on major construction sites in New York City must follow the requirements set by the NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) under Local Law 196 of 2017. Construction work in NYC involves hazards like working at heights, using scaffolds, handling asbestos and lead, and performing complex construction activities. Option 1: Retake the full SST program (40-Hour SST or 62-Hour SST)
Option 2 (Faster Renewal Path):Important: OSHA 30 Construction card older than 5 years can be refreshed by completing the 8-Hour Worker Refresher SST instead of retaking OSHA 30. This keeps the SST qualification valid but does not issue a new OSHA 30 card.
Workers with a valid 40-Hour SST Card who move into supervisory roles only need the 22-Hour Supervisor SST course. This upgrades the Worker SST card to a 62-Hour Supervisor SST Card without retaking the full program.
